Hello? Is This Thing On?
Well. My last post wished you a Happy New Year 2026. It is now the end of October. In my defense, I've been busy. In my dogs' defense, they've been busier.
Here's my year in one breath: three new books, two new series, one trip to Ireland, and a daily power struggle with two dogs who believe they hold the deed to this house.
Pour a cup of tea. Let's catch up.
Three Books, Two New Series, and Not Much Sleep
When I gave Dooley a little rest, I thought I might slow down. Reader, I did not slow down.
- Murder at the Sea Glass Café (spring) launched the Cassie & Skelly Irish Mystery Series. Meet Cassie Evans, new to the village of Kilshannon in County Wexford. Meet Skelly, a cursed púca in the shape of an Irish Wolfhound who must earn his freedom one good deed at a time. He talks only to Cassie. He has opinions. Many of them.
- A Match Made in Murder (June) is where Molly McGuire's world meets Cassie's. It's also Book 1 of the Fiona & Callum Series. Fiona Quinn, Detective Sergeant Callum Doyle, a leprechaun named Hinky, and two bodies. Romance and murder. My two favorite food groups.
- Murder at Harbour's Edge (October) is Cassie & Skelly Book 2. Skelly's good-deed count keeps climbing. So does the trouble in Kilshannon.
Three books in one year. My keyboard has filed a formal complaint.
Ireland, With Sixteen of My Favorite People
In June, I took sixteen readers to Ireland with my partners in crime, Kimberly DeBrabander and Rae Mangan. We walked the halls of Kilmainham Gaol. We stormed Bunratty Castle (politely). We wandered Kilkenny, Cork, Kenmare, and Dublin.
Along the way, I handed out signed copies of A Match Made in Murder. I dedicated that book to the people on that bus. Watching them find their own names in the front of a book? I'll carry that moment for a long time.
Did it rain? It's Ireland. Of course it rained. Did anyone care? Not one bit.
Don't be surprised if a few bits of that trip turn up in Kilshannon.
The Management Would Like a Word
Meanwhile, back in Michigan, Buddy and Maggie run a tight ship. I am the staff.
They decide when breakfast happens. (Early.) They decide when a writing session ends. (When they say so.) They have claimed the good spot on the couch, and also the other good spot on the couch. My office chair is on loan to me, with conditions.
People ask where Skelly gets his attitude. I live with the research department.
The Big News: Every Book Is Now in Kindle+
Drumroll, please. All of my books are now in Kindle+. Yes, all of them. Yes, Molly McGuire too.
If the name sounds new, that's because it is. Kindle+ is what Amazon now calls Kindle Unlimited. They changed it on October 22. Same service, shinier name.
If you subscribe, that's thirteen books to read at no extra cost: all ten Molly McGuire mysteries, both Cassie & Skelly books, and A Match Made in Murder. Start with Welcome Home to Murder and binge straight through Thornes, Roses and Murder. Then hop over to Kilshannon.
I won't tell anyone you stayed up past midnight.
What's Next
Skelly's story isn't finished. Book 3 is outlined, and I'll be drafting it in November. Samhain is coming to Kilshannon, and it isn't coming alone.
Thank you for reading, reviewing, sharing, and sending me notes. You make this the best job I've ever had. I spent forty years in travel, so that's saying something.
Now, if you'll excuse me, Maggie has informed me it's dinnertime. It's 3:30. Buddy agrees with her. I've been outvoted again.
Sláinte,
Cindy
